Marketing Trends to Ignore in 2025
What’s Actually Worth Your Attention
Every January, the internet spits out 100 “must-know marketing trends” that all sound the same: AI, NFTs, the metaverse (again), Web3, voice search, QR codes, holograms, whatever.
Here’s the problem: most of these trends are either recycled, overhyped, or totally irrelevant to your actual business.
If you're a marketer or business owner trying to focus on what works, here’s what to ignore in 2025—and where to put your energy instead.
1. The Metaverse (Still Not a Thing for Most of You)
It’s been “the future of marketing” since 2021. And yet, most people don’t even know what it is, much less use it. Unless you’re a gaming company or a VR-first brand, this isn’t where your customers are spending time.
Focus instead on where they actually are: Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google.
2. NFTs for Brand Loyalty
No one wants a digital collectible of your logo. The NFT bubble burst. Trying to force it into your loyalty program doesn’t make you innovative—it makes you look desperate.
Want loyalty? Try a great product, good support, and actual rewards.
3. Voice Search Optimization
Yeah, people talk to Alexa. But are they using it to find your B2B SaaS tool or DTC skincare brand? Probably not. Voice search is still mostly used for weather updates and playing Spotify.
Focus on real search intent and content that answers actual questions.
4. Overproduced “AI-Powered” Content
AI tools are helpful, but they’re not a replacement for clarity, originality, or insight. AI-generated fluff pieces are flooding the internet—and Google is catching on.
Use AI to support your writing. Not to replace it.
Your audience can tell the difference.
5. Shiny New Platforms with No Audience
Every year, a new app shows up and gets labeled “the next big thing.” Most die in six months. If your audience isn’t there, you don’t need to be either.
Threads? Jury’s still out.
BeReal? Already fading.
X (formerly Twitter)? Depends on your brand and your tolerance for chaos.
Stick to platforms that are actually moving your business forward.

Trends Don’t Build Strategy
Ignore the noise. Trends come and go. What works—great messaging, smart distribution, and knowing your customer—hasn’t changed in decades.
So skip the hype cycle. Focus on what moves the needle. That’s how you win in 2025.
